iteraSim Eddy — User Guide¶
Navigating Possibilities in Fluid Dynamics
iteraSim Eddy is a desktop application that drives OpenFOAM end to end — case setup, meshing, solver runs and post-processing — with an AI copilot across the whole workflow rather than bolted onto one step.
This guide takes a new user from a blank machine to a finished, verified simulation. Everything here is the real application, screen by screen.
Start here¶
-
Requirements, the AppImage, and automatic OpenFOAM detection. One file, no root, no dependencies.
-
Create an account, sign in on a second machine, and what Free gives you versus Pro.
-
The three panes, the tool rail, Case Builder, Solver Workshop, the Copilot and the mesh preview.
-
Open a case, generate a mesh, run the solver — plus a full worked lid-driven-cavity example, screen by screen.
The worked example¶
If you only read one section, make it 4.6 Worked example — lid-driven cavity at Re = 1000.
It is the standard CFD verification problem, it has a published answer, and it tells you whether a surprising result is your setup or the solver. A correct run reproduces Ghia, Ghia & Shin (1982) along the vertical centreline to well under one percent, with the primary vortex centred near (0.53, 0.56).
Why start with a benchmark
Running a case with a known answer first means every later surprise is information about your problem, not about your installation.
When something goes wrong¶
- 6 Troubleshooting — the errors you are most likely to hit, and what each one actually means.
- 7 Frequently asked questions
- 8 Support & community — how to report a bug so it can be reproduced.
- Appendix — files and paths — where Eddy writes things on disk.
